Classkick is a web based tool that allows the teacher to observe their students working in real time. The teacher will be able to see how each student is working on a particular assignment, and if their performance is meeting the desired learning progress. With real time information, a teacher will be able to quickly identify potential struggles, or will be able to assist students that may be apprehensive to raise their hands and ask questions in front of the rest of the class. The teacher will benefit from observing how students are approaching the problems, or prompts, that are presented, so that they are able to make future adjustment to their instructions where needed.
The application is free to create, and provides an appropriate amount of tutorial videos that will allow new users to quickly get acclimated, and begin creating their assignments. The Classkick applications will allow teachers to add video, audio, or text based examples to their assignments, which assists in building an immersive learning experience that engages the students on the task at hand. All the teacher needs to do is share the class code with their students, and they may begin to interact... and learn! Teachers can use ClassKick for a variety on content areas, and will even allow for exam reviews. Students will receive on the spot feedback, and be able to collaborate with the classmates as they will also be able to offer each other feedback during the activity. For example, in my Health Science classes, I would implement the use of this application during a in class assignment where the students were having to compute how to determine % daily values. Through the application screen, I will be able to observe how each student is computing their values, whether their considering all the variables, and if they need any further instruction. I would present a central scenario of information regarding nutrition, and the students would use the information I provide to determine an exact % daily value that a person should have when considering certain needs. The students will find this activity engaging, and at the same time comforting in that they are able to learn and ask questions without becoming the center of attention. A teacher can make individual comments that will allow students to not get stressed when they feel they are falling behind.

The three screen shots above are examples of a Classkick assignment. The screens demonstrate the simplicity by which a teacher can select a created work, to sharing an access code that their students will use to login into the specific assignment. The final screen demonstrates the prompt, and where the students can work on their calculations. Classkick is an engaging tool that will create a welcoming environment for all learners, which will inform the teacher in real time.
Formative is a web based tool that allows teachers to gain and give instant feedback on the performance of their students on individual assessments. Teachers can create content specific assessments that can be viewed and graded in real time, which will provide students with immediate insight and developmental opportunities based on their knowledge. The application allows for more than simple multiple choice assessments, and can be used to challenge the students accordingly. Formative is an efficient option that will engage students, and appeal to their ever increasing interest in technological advancements. What's important to teachers, is that they will be able to make adjustments to the understanding of their students when the understanding matters most... when they use it. A teacher will quickly realize what the students are excelling in, and what they are lacking in with regards to the content material that is being focused on. In my personal class, I will implement Formative as a way to check for understanding prior to moving on to a new section of study. I will also find it useful as a means of checking for prior knowledge on a specific topic matter. Think of it as a real time "Entry Ticket." Except with the use of this program, I, or any teacher will be able to gain an understanding of where their students are with regards to their prior knowledge, and then adjust the instructions accordingly. Rather than doing it on paper, and potentially not getting a full scope of information from everyone in class, and being more time consuming. Formative will allow the teacher to be more efficient on assessment tasks, which in turn will create more time for instruction, or review. Students always appreciate and respond to immediate feedback, especially when they are able to make adjustments before it is too late.

Here is an example of a Nutrition and Physical Activity quiz that I would give either as a check of prior knowledge, or as a check of understanding. Both approaches will prove beneficial, but decision must be made properly according to specific students and classrooms.
